California Proposition 65

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals.

Proposition 65 also prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging significant amounts of listed chemicals into sources of drinking water. Proposition 65 requires California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown to include approximately 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987.

Conflict Minerals Compliance

The Dodd-Frank Act and related U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rules require certain companies to disclose the extent to which the products they manufacture or contract to manufacture contain conflict minerals sourced from mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries. Conflict minerals include tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold, which are used in many electronic components and computer products.

Bead Electronics has contacted its suppliers and examined their statements on Conflict Materials for gold (Au) and tin (Sn), materials used on our interconnect pins. To our best knowledge, Bead Electronics is compliant with the Dodd-Frank Act.

While there are presently no mandatory regulatory compliance requirements for cobalt and mica, concerns about dangerous mining practices and difficult-to-track sourcing have led to calls for its inclusion on the list of conflict minerals. As Associations and non-governmental organizations advocating for cobalt’s inclusion as a mineral of concern, many companies have updated their supplier requirements to include tracking and reporting on sources of both as a condition of business.

REACH compliant

REACH Compliance

REACH is the European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC1907/2006). It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemical substances. The law entered into force on 1 June 2007. The aim of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through the better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances.

Bead Electronics does not manufacture or import chemicals and thus does not need to do any registration or pre-registration. Today, all our business partners gave us sufficient guarantees that the materials and products used in the manufacturing of our interconnect pins are and will be registered according to the REACH Directive.

RoHs_Compliant

RoHS Compliance

RoHS refers to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances. The European Union (EU) instituted RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, which banned six substances (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Hexacalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenysis, and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers) from being used in the manufacturing process. The goal of this directive is to protect the environment and reduce exposure-related health risks.

PFAS Compliance

Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that include PFOA, PFOS, GenX, and many others. During production and use, PFAS can migrate into the soil, water, and air. Most PFAS do not break down over time, so they remain in the environment. Some PFAS can build up in people and animals with repeated exposure over time. Bead certifies that to the best of its knowledge, none of its products contain any PFAS substances.

TSCA Compliance

In accordance with the Regulation of Persistent, Bioaccumulative, and Toxic Chemicals under TSCA Section 6(h), Bead Industries, Inc. certifies that to the best of its knowledge, none of the products it manufactures contain any of the five PBT substances restricted by TSCA in January 2021.
